Sensei Teague Vanderbeek is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Shaolin Kempo and was a full-time instructor for several years in Laguna Beach, California. As the Owner and Chief Instructor of the Achieve Martial Arts, St. George, Utah, Sensei Teague strives to create a community of friendly, confident, and disciplined, martial artists. He is gifted at customizing instruction to fit a students’ age, experience, and approach to learning. Sensei Teague has trained students of all ages (3-82) from novice to advanced practitioners, including students with special needs.

Known for his creative approach to teaching, Sensei Teague has a strong understanding of martial art techniques, and dedication to his students’ progress. His students realize not only the physical benefits of practice but also the satisfaction, discipline, and confidence that can come with a commitment to training. Above all, he enjoys helping his students develop practical martial art skills and explore real-world applications.

Sensei Teague has a rich background in several martial arts. In addition to teaching and studying Shaolin Kempo for over 19 years at the Laguna Beach Dojo under Master Jeff Kash, 6th Degree Blackbelt, he has studied Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 10 years and Muay Thai for 5 years. He has also taken Doug Marciada’s combat course, as well as shooting and knife courses for self-defense purposes.

Sensei Teague has also instructed self-defense courses for assault victims helping them regain confidence in their own safety , as well as young people attending university/college. He also regularly runs after school programs and summer camps for elementary and middle school aged children including “Ninja Nights,” “Dungeons and Dragons Camp,” “LightSaber Academy” (a Star Wars-inspired camp with a novel twist on Sword forms). Additionally, Sensei Teague previously taught children how to ski and snowboard for 4 years.

Sensei Teague earned his 2nd Degree Blackbelt in June 2021, and his 1st Degree Blackbelt May 2019. He continues his own martial art practice, studying under Master Jeff Kash, 6th Degree Black Belt. Under Master Kash’s tutelage Sensei has won 1st place in sparring multiple times throughout his career, including 4th in Instructors Division Sparring while injured.
